Dear Geek, what’s up? It’s December 1st, 2021, and you’re welcome to our website (your website, really), as well as our very first post. What exactly is GeekAfrique? Well, for starters, this is the website you’ve been waiting for because we made it just for you. Yes, you, the African fan. The fan of African origin. The fan of all that’s African, or of African origin. All of you.

If you’ve ever been tired of not seeing yourself or people like you treated with the deserved respect and fanfare, or looking for news and info on geek culture with an African bent, then look no more. We will serve you news, views, reviews, previews, and interviews related to the latest, hottest creators and projects that Africa has to offer, alongside mainstream ‘global’ pop culture.

We will feature famous writers, as well as ‘undiscovered’ ones. We will cover trending creators, likewise emerging ones. We will spotlight the hottest creations, and give platforms to new ones. Here, African creators and their creations are the mainstream. It’s by us, for us, and anyone else who loves us. Got it?

“Here, African creators and their creations are the mainstream. It’s by us, for us, and anyone else who loves us.”

At GeekAfrique, African fans and their voices matter, and in more ways than one (more on this when we announce our contributor/submission guidelines in early 2022). If you have strong opinions about any part of geekdom, get ready to pen them down – you just might get published here!

And true to our African nature, we will continue to evolve, and in doing so give you the most heartfelt, Africa-centric content you could ever want.
